Staffing

Camp Illahaw strives for campers to have a safe and enriching experience at camp, and the camp staff is key to this success. So, at Camp Illahaw we hire only the best to work with your children. All staff members undergo background and drug screenings before they are hired. Our staff is a diverse group coming from different backgrounds and parts of the world. The camp counselors that spend the majority of the time with the campers are mostly college students on summer jobs.

Many of our staff members were once campers themselves and remember the fun they had at camp. With that reflection, they are eager to pass down this great summer tradition to other campers. We also have professionals that oversee the camp in areas of great skill including the horse barn and related activities, survival, camp cooks, and the camp mom.

Other Info

Camper Drop-off/Check-in is on Sunday the first day of the session at 12pm to 2pm with a parent/camper orientation at 2pm

Camper Pick-up/ Check-out is on the following Saturday at 11am
If camper is staying for multiple weeks then pick-up is on the last Saturday of the last session

Camper contact policy at Camp Illahaw has changed in 2010. With the size of camp growing each year we have had to change to contact policy from the past. This year campers are going to be able to call home on Wednesday night and Friday night. If a special need arises (emergency, early pick-up, or other need) campers will be able to call home. Campers will be able to write letters home everyday and we are working on a way to allow for email for the campers. If you email the camp (campmail@floridaecosafaris.com) or send a letter to camp, we will deliver it to the campers when we receive it. Please, do not send any "snail mail" after Wednesday, as it may not reach the camper before Saturday's pick-up.

As in past years, Cell Phones will not be permitted at camp. Any cell phones found at camp will be held in the office until the camper checks out on Saturday.

If your child takes a prescribed medicine or an over the counter medicine please help us out and bring these medicines in a Ziploc bag with the camper's name on it and an index card with complete instructions about the medicine at check-in. This will help speed the registration process and keep the medicines safe.

If your child has special nutritional needs or foods to avoid, please advise us in writing before camp starts so that we can make sure we have a meal plan in place that fits this special need.
